Printing Capabilities
Cipher’s Action functionality is the gateway to the Oracle
Database. Cipher actions let you leverage the power of the Oracle
Database and your in-house resources’ PL/SQL knowledge to
write powerful extensions to the basic label printing functionally
included in the E-Business Suite.
Oracle provides a fixed set of data for inclusion on your labels.
Cipher actions allow you to write robust and efficient PL/SQL procedures
to augment this data, create child labels, insert into tables,
or even play transactions using the Oracle open interfaces and
API’s.
Rather than design a complicated user interface, claiming that
functional users can configure advanced actions or rules, Skipjack
took a different direction. With Cipher, you use the database and
your in-house PL/SQL talent to define complicated label printing
rules with well-written, native PL/SQL code. The resulting rules
will execute more efficiently and will keep your resources in familiar
roles – functional resources define specifications, and technical
resources build and deploy them.
Cipher actions can be used to integrate disconnected
third party applications to Oracle’s E-Business Suite without the need
for inter-connect or other complicated integration technologies.
Because Cipher is designed around the lowest common denominator – files,
even legacy applications can quickly be configured to communicate
with Oracle.
